Spanish general strike – 29 March 2012

Protests erupted against Spanish austerity measures erupted on 29 March, as a general strike and a series of militant protests severely disrupted Madrid, Barcelona and much of Spain – also at the same time raising concerns that Spain would be unable to make the deficit cuts that have been sought by EU leaders. This comes at the same time as the Dutch coalition government is apparently unstable due to the reluctance of its left coalition partners to agree to similar austerity measures.
